Travel Insurance
Disclosure: this page rebuilds the live site's real
Travel Insurance page (an Amazon product grid of insurance
books, tag fitness57-20). Links may earn Dignity Travel a
referral fee at no extra cost to you.
No coverage advice, no guarantees. This page explains how travel insurance works so you can compare policies yourself. We do not sell policies, we do not promise what a policy covers, and every contract differs — read the policy wording before you buy.
What travel insurance is for
Travel insurance exists to cover the costs of things going wrong: trip cancellation or interruption, medical care abroad, lost baggage, and travel delays. It is a risk-transfer product, not a warranty on your vacation — and whether it is worth it depends entirely on your trip, your health, and your tolerance for risk.
What to compare
- Medical coverage limits and exclusions. If you have health conditions, check whether they are covered — this is where most claims get denied.
- Cancellation triggers. Policies list exactly which reasons allow cancellation claims (illness, bereavement, some employment changes). "Cancel for any reason" is a separate, more expensive add-on with its own rules.
- Excess (deductible) per claim. A cheaper premium often means a higher excess that you pay first.
- Geographic scope. Some policies exclude or limit whole regions or activities (trekking, adventure sports, cruises).
